AIM OF COURSE
Program of Restorative Dentistry studies is basic area that teaches students about therapy of dental hard tissues diseases, teeth and jaw trauma, materials and medications used in restorative dentistry.
TEACHING PLAN / SEMESTER OF COURSE ADMISSION– LENGTH OF TEACHING THROUGH SEMESTERS
Restorative Dentistry preclinical practical workstarts in the forth semester of studies and lasts through 15 weeks of teaching in the form of 6 hours of lectures, 15 hours of seminars and 45 hours of preclinical practical work (total of 66 hours).
Restorative Dentistry preclinical practical worktakes place during the fifth semester of the studies and lasts through 15 weeks of teaching in the form of 30 hours of lectures, 15 hours of seminars and 45 hours of preclinical practical work (total of 90 hours).
Lectures provide students with basic and new knowledge of Restorative Dentistry, as well as give insight in the historical, current and future development of the profession: work place, instruments and dental ergonomics, anamnesis and dental examination, nomenclature, achieving saliva isolated working field, basic and special principles of cavity preparation (Black's principles and modifications), materials for temporary and permanent cavity filling.
Purpose of the seminars is to prepare the students for successful performance of practical tasks during preclinical practical work. Therefore, seminars encompass chapters: anamnesis, occlusion, instruments, isolated working field, basic principles of cavity preparation and materials in Restorative Dentistry. Students are actively involved in the work and prepare presentation on the given topics.
Purpose of the preclinical practical work is to enable students for work with patients. Therefore, students perform practical preparation of all cavity types on models, placement of protective lining and permanent filling, modelation and reconstruction of the occlusion.
Restorative Dentistry clinical practical workstart in the sixth semester and lasts through 15 weeks of teaching in the form of 15 hours of lectures, 15 hours of seminars and 45 hours of practical clinical work (total of 75 hours).
Restorative Dentistry clinical practical worktakes place during the seventh semester and lasts through 15 weeks of teaching in the form of 15 hours of lectures and 45 hours of practical clinical work (total of 60 hours).
Restorative Dentistry clinical practical work takes place alongside with Endodontics until the end of the tenth (X) semester during the same clinical practical work.
Restorative Dentistry clinical practical work takes place during the eight semester and last through 15 weeks of teaching in the form of 70 hours of clinical practical work.
Restorative Dentistry clinical practical work takes place during the ninth (IX) semester and last through 15 weeks of teaching in the form of 60 hours of clinical practical work.
Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics clinical practical worktakes place during the tenth (X) semester and last through 15 weeks of teaching in the form of 60 hours of clinical practical work.
Purpose of the clinical practical work is to enable the students for adequate treatment of patients. Student should know how to: take anamnesis, perform therapeutic treatment of non-complicated and complicated caries and cavity supply.
