Aim of the course
Purpose of oral medicine course is to educate undergraduate students for independent practical work with oral medicine patients. During four semesters students are taught how to recognize, diagnose and treat various oral mucosal diseases.
The course begins in the 7th semester. During the semesters students attend 15 theoretical lectures and get introduced with basic principles of oral medicine. In the 8th semester along with lectures, students begin with clinical exercises and they are introduced to the principles of functioning of oral medicine service. In the 9th semester students have clinical exercises where they are taught various diagnostic procedures used in oral medicine. In the 10th semester students continue with clinical work and, apart from putting previously taught diagnostic skills into practice, learn about therapy of oral medicine patients. Furthermore, students practice treatment of most common oral mucosal diseases and learn how to modify their therapeutic approach depending on the stage of the disease and patient's general health.
After completing the course students can consult their teachers on a daily basis.

Assessment methods
Oral medicine exam consists of practical work with patient and oral answers to pre-prepared questions.
